Hypertension – Fast Pulse

High blood pressure is a common condition in which the pressure of the blood against your artery walls is high enough that it may eventually lead to certain diseases. Blood pressure is determined by the amount of blood your heart pumps and the amount of resistance to blood flow in your arteries. The more blood your heart pumps and the narrower your arteries, the higher your blood pressure will be. Uncontrolled high blood pressure increases your risk of serious health problems, including heart attack and stroke. In Chinese Medicine all cases of hypertension involve liver yang rising but some people will have a mixed pattern of Liver yang rising combined with yin deficiency (or deficiency of the body fluids). This pattern is usually accompanied with complaints of dizziness, blurred vision, generalized weakness and headache. The treatment principal here is to extinguish Liver wind, calm Liver yang, and nourish Liver and Kidney yin. Chinese herbs can provide powerful results in this case. When looking for a more modern day formula to extinguish Liver wind, calm Liver yang, and nourish Liver and Kidney yin, look for a formula containing one or more of the following herbs:

Ju Ming Zi – Settles and clears the liver and this herb also has the unique action of helping to clear red, painful, or swollen eyes that are sometimes associated with hypertension.

Sheng Di Huang – Which Helps to  tonify the Liver and Kidney yin preventing preventing that excess Liver yang from rising up into the upper body.

Gou Teng – Also clears liver heat but in addition sedates used to calm or anchor Liver yang and extinguish internal wind that’s caused by that chaotic excess heat in the body.
